Improving Your Audition Blueprint

There are some basic strategies and ideas to pay attention to whenever you’re going off on the next audition in your modeling or acting career. You must present yourself in the proper manner and show everyone at the audition that you belong there and have what it takes.

You’ve got to relax. Even if you perform better than someone else, if that other person is more relaxed in their performance, the director may leave the audition feeling better about them than you. Be sure to relax your feelings and be alert but not too alert.

Perfecting Your Audition Approach

In preparation for being relaxed before you hit the audition, you should get good at practicing your breathing. When you can control your breathing through deep breathing exercises, you’re going to get more oxygen to your brain and this results in an alert brain and relaxed heartbeat.

Once you enter your audition, you should pay great attention to how you shake hands with the director. Be sure to great each director with a strong professional handshake rather than a weak, limp one. This is your first and last impression so do a good job with your handshake.

Effective Audition Scenarios

Your listening skills are a big part of success on your audition. If the director is explaining to you the script and your role inside that script and you’re not actively paying attention, then you’ll look like you have no interest in truly being a part of the production. This is why you want to be relaxed going in…a relaxed state creates a better listener.

You also need to take care of yourself in terms of diet and a good night’s sleep before the audition day. There’s nothing worse than walking into an audition with red eyes from a night of partying. If you pay attention to these simple, yet effective tips, you’ll find that your audition performance improves.

Should You See The Film Paranormal Activity?

Aug 26th, 2010 Posted in entertainment | no comment »

Initially receiving attention at Los Angeles’ Screamfest, the small budget independent film entitled Paranormal Activity sat on the shelf for almost two years until Paramount Pictures took the reins and edited the film’s conclusion.

Many famous people have interest in this movie. Steven Spielberg is rumored to have assisted in the changes to the final scene.

The film does not feature a large cast. The story focuses on Katie and Micah, a young pair undergoing some relationship strain, but who undoubtedly love and support each other.

The couple relocates to a home in San Diego which they start to think could be haunted. As time passes, Katie explains her belief in the occult, and suggests that a poltergeist has shadowed her for many years. She even intimates that the ghost may have played a role in her sister’s demise.

Micah is not necessarily convinced, so he attempts to make video recordings of any potential spirit activities that occur during the nighttime hours.

When Micah actually gets some very unsettling evidence on tape, he becomes convinced that there is a dark force present and increasingly antagonizes the ghost.

A later meeting with a paranormal specialist proves unfruitful, when he leaves in a hurry, saying he is not qualified to help them with such an evil force.

As the movie continues Micah proceeds to aggravate the ghost in any way. Micah even decides to get a Ouija board to see if the ghost will begin to communicate with them. All of these activities lead to a dramatic ending.

It is very impressive that this simple, independent film could intrigue so many audience members. This shows that audiences are not only impressed by big movie budgets, but by the content of the movie itself.

On the whole, Paranormal Activity is a tremendously enjoyable, often terrifying ride. Anyone who enjoys subjecting themselves to fright by film should give it a try.

Don’t Quit Your Day Job………Yet

Aug 25th, 2010 Posted in entertainment | no comment »

As you would certainly be a beginner for some time, it may need more than a minute to begin creating some serious dough in your stand-up comedy acts. When you have a regular 40-hr week job, go ahead and, don’t stop it just yet. Until you have a lot of money secured for a while, it is foolish to submit your resignation right then. Perhaps even immediately after you start having consistent gigs that pay, it might not always be enough to bring food on the table and pay your payments.

When you work a 9 to 5 hour career, which may be to your own advantage. Don’t program your evenings or weekend for just anything more. You can find more comedy gigs, such as open mics and to be able to look at some other comedy shows. You may want to suck up everything that you can once you are getting started. When you get in the groove, you will be so busy focusing on your comedic routines with composing, performing sketches, etc.

Where You Should Perform

Once you begin, you are aware of how to use your material on other people and eventually family and friends. Once you are prepared to do live performances, get with some experienced comedians that would certainly be willing to give you a few nuggets. Not anyone is freehearted, so you may have to go through quite a few of them in order to get the guidance you need.

One of the very first places you should perform is an open mic. Open mics are typically held at bookstores, coffee shops and bars. Though these would be non-paying gatherings, you may possibly build up your base. Doing this would likely supply you with the experience you will need when it’s time for you to go out on the road to perform for larger target audience.

People love listening for you tell jokes. Your family and friends, rave about just how much you could get people to laugh. They seem to think that stand-up comedy can be your real calling. Now you need to discover how hilarious you really are and what you are able to do to make the most of that gift.

See some of the expert comedians on TV. Study how these people perform their routines and share their particular stories. If you are a born storyteller, then you can start off by doing that. Or perhaps if you’re the kind that’s really observant then you may want to enter into that sub genre. Even if you hit big time, you shouldn’t rest on your laurels. There will invariably be innovative material which you can study from.

Get some family and friends together and show your material. Ask them to give you their ideas on your performance. Feel free to ask them to be honest. It could be difficult with someone that you’re familiar with given that they really don’t wish to hurt your feelings when they feel you suck and have to make improvements to. Don’t forget to jot down notes.

Examine the important points to straighten out strengths and weaknesses. Compare those notes with your activities on video and see what comes best or is appropriate on point with the character that you carry out. Whatever you do the most and the best of, is what you need to begin with.

Practice your stand-up acts facing a mirror. Stick with what you do very best and eliminate anything that isn’t part or should not be part of the act. Maintain your same persona and style of comedy all the way through. You want the crowd to get used to your style of making them laugh.

Don’t stop rehearsing. The more you rehearse, the more you get better with your routine. Rehearsing is the only way you will get your stand-up act just how it should be. Go to different venues and observe how audience takes you.

Every performance should be videotaped. Look at them later on and see if you find any weak spots that can be removed from future stand-up acts. Don’t be somebody that you’re not. Your acts have to be original and natural. Never pressure yourself to make changes that may let down your audience.

A skinny yet still fantastic stand up comedy is really hard to seek out! Anybody would love somebody that make them laugh and stand out at the same time. Just the recommended stand up comedian is going to do the action!
