Here’s A Quick Way To Improve The Speed Of Your Computer, Without Registry Cleaners

Jul 2nd, 2010 Posted in programming | no comment »

Have you ever actually thought about what is slowing down your computer? Well I’ll let you in on a little secret – it has to do with your operating system and how it runs. As much as your computers operating system tires to be faster it really just doesn’t get the job done. What happens is that your comptuer will start to slow down within time. Why? Well, one of the biggest things is that after using your computer for a few months junk start to build up on it.

By junk I mean useless files that simply just don’t get deleted. One of the best ways to make your computer faster is to simply remove some of this junk and then your computer will run faster again. The more junk that you have on your computer, the slower it will perform. So what’s the best way to remove this junk? Simple regular maintenance.

So where do you start? One of the best places to start is with your hard drive. Your hard drive stores all of your files and if it fails, then you loose all of your files. This is why keeping your hard drive in a healthy state is critical. To do this we are going to use a programs that comes build into Windows.

Now click on the Start button, click on My Computer (if your using Vista just double click on the Computer icon to open the computer window), right click on your main drive (C:) and select the Properties option. In the Properties window, click the Tools tab and then click on the Check Now button. Now the Check Disk window should appear and you should select “Automatically Fix File System Errors” and also check off the box for “Scan For And Attempt To Recover For Bad Sectors”. Click the “start” icon and if it says that you need to perform a restart just restart your computer. By the time you come back from your restart it will launch the program.

By running this program on your slow computer what you are doing is letting your computer check the hard drive for any problems or any potential problems that might occur. Then what the program does is it tries to fix these problems so that they will not develop into larger problems. These types of problems tend to occur as a result from when your computer freezes or when you do something like turn off your computer suddenly.

Are Registry Cleaners Truly Necessary?

Jul 2nd, 2010 Posted in programming | no comment »

Registry cleaners are one of the controversial topics among computer users. Some claim the regular use of them is necessary for optimal computer performance, increasing speed and disk space. Others claim they do more harm than good, and should be avoided at all costs.

What a registry cleaner does is scan the computer registry for invalid or corrupt files and unused or outdated drivers, look for missing file associations and remove any problems it encounters. In theory, you will have a quicker loading computer, with programs running faster and smoother. Is this really true, and can these types of programs fulfill their promises? Do they do all this automatically, or do they give you the option of choosing the right actions?

Using a registry cleaner can be dangerous, according to some experts. It may remove files that are necessary for programs to load or perform properly. It can even cause a full system crash. They state that the best results may be the gain of a few kilobytes of disk space, and maybe a faster start up. However, with the storage and disk space on most computers that is a negligible result. Are these programs just ’snake oil, ‘ as one expert reviewer has stated?

Questions arise about the information that free trials of cleaner give. Possibly, once you have been told you have hundreds of errors in your registry affecting performance, you are going to want to buy the program that can clean that ‘mess’ up. You may just find, instead, that you have now lost some necessary files and the functionality is impaired. You may even find that the computer speed has slowed because the registry has been fragmented.

Most of the registry cleaners on the market claim that you will need to run the program periodically in order to keep your registry clean and free of errors. However, just because there are a few orphaned entries and files, they do not affect your computer’s speed or performance in a noticeable way. It may even mark some ‘good’ files as bad, and schedule them for removal.

Manual repair or alteration of your registry is a much safer way to go, if you are experiencing a problem. If your computer skills are not up to the task, then go hire an expert, or just leave it. With scant real data behind their claims, you should not trust software programs reviews.

As you begin with a new and clean computer system, take a few basic steps to keep it that way. Use only licensed programs, and keep back up disks so you can reinstall or correct any problems that occur. Make frequent backups of critical data. Always have a good anti-virus system installed, keeping it updated at all times, and running. Don’t install and uninstall trial software. Use the disk cleanup and defragment programs regularly. With these steps in place, you will not feel the need to use registry cleaners.

Are you tired of registry cleaners that don’t work and ruin files that are important? Well, with our software, you won’t have to worry. If you need to know more you need to read our registry cleaners reviewed article.

Registry Cleaners are a software product that is designed to clear up problems on the database (registry) of computers using the Microsoft Windows operating system. When something appears wrong with the machine, it is often because something needs to be removed from this database. That is what these cleaners do.

Registry in this PC is responsible for holding a huge number of settings and can lead to a large amount of problems if it is not cleaned on a regular basis. Things such as broken links, invalid entries, missing references and other such things can occur. Finding the right registry cleaner for this task is very important.

Problems sometimes encountered with the registry can include such things as the system crashing, numerous errors in operation and the computer suddenly ‘freezing up’. This causes not only an interruption of one’s work but complete frustration with the breakdown of the system. Being in the middle of important work and suddenly have a blank screen can be devastating.

It is obvious, with the complicated structure of a computer, that it must be properly cared for if it is to operate smoothly and do the job for which it was purchased. To keep this machine in tiptop condition, having the proper software for this purpose is important. Fortunately, one can find a number of companies with this software available.

A Little Secret On How To Reduce Time On Your Slow Computer

Jun 13th, 2010 Posted in programming | no comment »

What if I told you that there was one secret little thing that you could do that would reduce the amount of wasted time on your computer? Well there is. The only problem is that is very obvious – so obvious that its almost always over looked. Well, there really is more than just one thing you can do. Its to first learn some of the more commonly used shortcuts that are found on windows and to also learn how to type faster. Sounds really obvious huh? Well guess what, I have spent a lot of time working with lots of different people that are in all sorts of different industries and typing really slow and not knowing even just a few of the commonly used shortcuts that are used in windows tends to be one of the biggest wastes of time.

When it comes to typing properly realize that if you are one of those people that uses the hunt and peck method (hunt and peck is when you use your pointer finger from both hands to pick on one letter on the keyboard at a time) then you are drastically reducing your level of productivity. Take the time to learn how to type quickly. Yes you will start of really slow, but trust me it will be well worth it in the long run – spend some time now to save a lot of time in the long run.

Now when it comes to using the windows keyboard shortcuts you are going to have to practice them in order to remember them so that you will be able to use them without thinking. Now keep in mind that most of the shortcuts that I am going to show you are just for the Windows environment and some can be used on most windows programs (like Office, Excel etc…). If there are some programs that you use frequently I suggest that you take the time to learn a few of the shortcuts that it has to offer – you spend a lot of time using the programs anyways, why no reduce the amount of time you spend looking for things on it?

Lets start off by learning how to switch from one application to another on the task bar quickly. If your main way of doin this is to simply click on them with the mouse, you are just wasting your time, and I am going to show you a much quicker way to do this. Here’s how its done: open a few programs (Notepad and Calculator will do just find for this exercise) and hold down the Alt button and then press the Tab key a few times. What this will do is it will allow you to cycle through your currently open programs. It’s a much quicker way to move from one program to the next without using your mouse. If you want to get to the task manger by using only one hand, just press Ctrl + Shift + Esc (at the same time) all on the left hand side of the keyboard. Now, if you want to close a program quickly just use Alt + F4. To save a program use Ctrl + S. To go straight to your desktop use the combination: windows button + M.

Practice these shortcuts as much as you can – trust me once you start to get use to using them you will save time.

Want To Make Your Slow Computer A Bit Faster? Try This Out.

Jun 13th, 2010 Posted in programming | no comment »

If you want to make your slow computer faster, then tuning your virtual memory would be a great place to start. You see, your hard drive is that place that your computer stores files like videos, picture etc… Your RAM on the other hand is the place that your computer’s programs work in. Its basically like a temporary working area. It’s a great system, but when your RAM gets full your computer has two choices: it can either tell you that you cannot open any more programs or it can find a new place to be used as the temporary working place. This is where virtual memory comes into play. Virutal memory is space on your computers hard drive that will be used the same way that your computer uses RAM

The name for this space on your hard drive is called a Paging File and is what you need to “tune” if you want to make your slow computer a bit faster. Your paging file is designed to be two different sizes that it moves in between: the Initial Size and the Maximum Size. Since these two sizes are constantly changing it causes your paging file to work inefficiently. All you have to do is to just make your paging file the same size and it will help you make your slow computer faster. Here’ what to do:

If you are a Windows XP user just click Start and right click My Computer and now select Properties. Now click on the Advanced tab and then under the area that says “Performance” just click on the Settings icon. A new window should appear. Just click on the Advanced tab at the top of the window and then under the Virtual Memory section, click on Change. Just make sure to look under where it says “Drive [Volume Label]” and make sure that your C: is highlighted. Now just look under Page file size for selected drive and select Custom Size.

Where it says “Total page file size for all drives section” look at the amount that says Recommended. What ever number it says is recommended, type that into both boxes where it says Initial Size and Maximum Size. Click Set and then Ok. Then Click Apply on the next window and OK.

If you are using Windows Vista, click Start, click on Control Panel, on the left hand side make sure Classic View is selected and then double click on the System icon. On the left side of the window, click on the Advanced System Settings. Click on the Advanced tab and then under the section that says Performance, click on Settings. In this window, click on the Advanced tab and under Virtual Memory, click Change. Uncheck the “Automatically manage paging file size for all drivers”. Look under where it says “Drive [Volume Label]” and make sure that C: is selected (it should be highlighted blue). Now look under Page file size for selected drive and select Custom Size. Where it says “Total page file size for all drives section” look at the amount that says Recommended. What ever number it says is recommended, type that into both boxes where it says Initial Size and Maximum Size. Click Set, then Ok and then on the next window click on Apply and then OK.
