Saving Energy: A Solar Air Cooling System

Jul 16th, 2009 Posted in home | no comment »

Air conditioning is actually a strange concept when you think about it. Some of the most popular air conditioners create a cold feeling by pulling the heat out of hot air as opposed to simply producing cold air. The results are still the same: refreshing cool air. This method of air condition actually uses less electricity than other methods, so making it solar powered makes it the perfect eco-friendly system.

The way that heat ends up producing cold air is because these air conditioners use hot water as their means of energy. This energy is then transferred into the cold air that comes out of the system. Typically the type of heat that an AC uses comes from gas boilers or the leftover heat from generators, but with the advances in solar technology the heat can now come directly from the sun. This means that the electricity used to power the heating source before no longer becomes necessary at all.

Trapping the heat from the sun is a simple process with the right tools. Solar panels absorb the heat from the sun in the form of thermal energy. That thermal energy is then delivered into the heart of the air conditioner where a ‘chiller’ is set up to cool off the air. There are different kinds of solar cooling systems and while they all basically work the same way they each have unique attributes that may make them more appropriate in different settings.

So what does this new technology mean for the environment? For one thing, it means that there will be less dangerous chemicals released into the air. All solar powered air conditioners and cooling systems run on chilling solutions that are made with limited amounts of hazardous chemicals such as Freon and other toxic materials. It also means less gases and pollutants getting into the air because energy is being conserved. The less energy that is used overall, the less energy power plants need to produce. On top of that, most of these cooling systems are very careful to create these systems with durable materials that won’t corrode over time.

When it comes to how the consumer is affected, being able to use a solar air cooling system means saving money. The initial installation costs can be over a thousand dollars, but over the years the energy it saves will return the investment and then be nothing but extra money. This is especially true for the solar cooling systems that can also be used for heating in the winter.

Using solar power to run an air conditioner was a great idea because the time when people are using their ACs is the time when the sun produces the most heat. These new systems kill two birds with one stone by cooling off homes and doing so in a much more natural way than conventional air conditioning systems. It’s another step towards creating zero energy homes and self-sustaining energy systems. This is a great example of how people can produce things that save the environment when they really try.

Decorating On A Budget

Jul 16th, 2009 Posted in home | no comment »

The economy is not good at present and this means that most people will have a hard time doing projects. You may find that you want to redecorate your home, but you’re not sure that you can afford it. But there are many ways in which you can save enough money up to change the look of your home. Do this by taking less vacations, or packing your lunch to eat at work.

You should try and make a lower budget because you don’t need to spend a bunch of money in order to make a room look nice. You should be more focused on whether you are creating a balance in the room and a nice feeling of harmony. Make sure that you get objects that will go together in what style you are hoping to create in the room. Don’t go with the usual, mix it up with some additions that are unique and show your personality.

If you have a few items that are expensive you should try and keep them together in your room. It’s just natural that if you place those less expensive items with the more expensive ones it may make the expensive items look cheaper. But you can be amazed at what you may find at the flea market or garage sales. You know the old saying, “Another person’s junk is another’s treasure”. Check these places out for some great buys. And even if you find some good buy for a small amount it doesn’t mean that it will look cheap.

But remember that if you have the placement right in the use of decorating your home you can put both those expensive and inexpensive items together. If both pieces look fairly similar in nature, the same lines and all, you can place them together. Or place them together because it can create what is known as the gypsy style and in this type of style it can look great to put an antique with a modern style.

When you go shopping for the items you want to get to redecorate with you can save money. Flea markets or yard sales are fantastic places where you will be able to get some great bargains. Another person’s items that they are tired of may be the look you were hoping to put together in your home. Make sure that the pieces you buy will go not only with the style but the color of what you hoping to decorate in.

Budget home decorating can be achieved by purchasing area rugs. Area rugs can add color to a room’s decor. They are available in so many patterns from stripes to color blocks to graphics. Area rugs also can add texture to a living space. Cotton, wool, bamboo, jute, sisal, synthetic are among the texture choices available to suit one’s individual needs.

Shapes and sizes also are important consideration when purchasing an area rug. For example, it is important to have a large enough area rug underneath the dining room table. Otherwise, guests will be moving their chairs on and off the rug.

It’s easy to understand why in today’s economy you are not looking to spend a bunch of money on a redecorating project. But with some wise shopping and some good thinking you can have a brand new look.

Unique TV Stands

Jul 11th, 2009 Posted in family | no comment »

Are you someone who likes to be different? I am. I don’t mind the status quo. I don’t disdain or necessarily protest the way the world goes around. I do, however, like to feel that I have my own style and unique taste regardless of what is considered to be proper or even acceptable sometimes. That may be a bit naive, I admit, but I still strive to feel comfortable in my choices because, I like them, not because they are in vogue.

This is true, even in the small or unimportant choices I make day to day. So when I look for something to adorn my home, I like to look for something I find unique or just a bit different to fit what I feel is my style. In the time I’ve been writing about home entertainment furniture, among other topics, I’ve found some of them that I wanted to share with people who have similar feelings. Here they are, the unique audio-video furniture I would like to find a way to incorporate into my home.

Entertainment furniture produced by people who are anti technology in their personal lives. That’s right, I’ve stumbled across some home entertainment furniture made by the Amish community. In case you are not aware or up to date on your Amish knowledge, my understanding is that they believe in preserving traditional methods and values. Because of this they don’t use cars or tractors, watch videos, or use cell phones. What they do is create unparalleled quality of handmade craftsmanship in everything they produce. What could be more unique than furniture supporting your technology made by people who refuse to participate in it? Not many things, that’s for sure.

A month or so ago I attended a “green” products fair, and found some really amazing work by a company who was trying to save the rain forest. OK, maybe that wasn’t their whole focus, but it was a part of it for sure.

Greentea Designs travels around the world to gather what they call “reclaimed wood” which is wood from structures that would normally be thrown out, burned, or otherwise destroyed. Then they use it to design and make fabulous high end pieces of furniture that anyone would be proud to display in their home. You should look at they work it is second to none, and you can justify the price by telling yourself that it’s all for the rain forest.

The last thing I wanted to mention is something that seems to have walked right out of the movies and into your living room. A motorized entertainment center. That’s right, with the touch of a button on your remote control on a switch on the wall, you can reveal your set as if by magic. Revealing itself from what seems like an average furniture piece, you can amaze your friends and family with a futuristic style that few people have hanging around the house. The only catch may be that you may forget it isn’t a surface to put miscellaneous things on (kind of like the bar is at my house) and have to clean it off before indulging in your favorite Star Trek flick, well, either that or the price. But think of how cool you would be!

Javea Once Brought Economic Growth to Spain

Jul 11th, 2009 Posted in family | no comment »

Affordable holiday fun in the Costa Blanca Sun and fun in the Mediterranean Sea is synonymous to the Costa Blanca, the Spanish coastal area. The Costa Blanca is considered the property of the Province of Alicante, beginning with the town of Denia and winding up in Pilar de la Horadada or Torrevieja, as the last significant town in the province.

The coastline from here becomes more picturesque than ever and if you are driving, you’ll want to keep your camera at hand. It’s considered inside the district of Valencia. Examining some of these incredible vacation spots more discreetly, each villa is considered to be someone’s favorite, as it has something extraordinary that will tickle your fancy!

For those visitors to Costa Blanca with rental cars highway A7 links Javea throughout Europe with exit ramps at Ondara and Benissa. The latter is located near the milestone mountain peak Montgo. Javea is found on the east Iberian Peninsula about 90 km from Alicante and a little over 100 km from Valencia City. These two cities in Spain each have international metropolitan airports that make your journey very easy.

Javea has an abundant wealthy, natural landscape. It also possesses wonderfully tended coastlines with white seashores, some of these are, Javea, Altea, Guardamar, and Torrevieja. In addition are a number of monuments to a heritage that has afforded Javea all of its interesting societal and time-honored celebrated visitor sites.

Bullfighting in the Streets You may have always thought expensive tickets were the only way to find a great seat within a bullring, yet in the summertime, it is popular in Javea to drive the bulls into the streets. Eighteen-year-old young men make all the plans for this long-established show. They block off streets and created a dead end street that becomes a makeshift round up. The idea behind this spectacle is for the men to demonstrate how brave they are, since they have become of age. Sometimes at night, pieces of cloths soaked in oil are fastened onto the bulls’ horns. Then set afire. It all looks prehistoric, does it not? Once again, it seems that the men again are trying to resist these valiant bulls.

The Raisin Market Transcendental in Javea’s past was the summertime when the greater part of the locals would go to their country villa homes near the town center and harvest grapes. Gathering grapes is a lengthily and demanding process, as they utilize only part of the muscatel grapes characteristic for producing raisins. The grapes, having been cut, are transported to a series of scolding bins and a boiling water and salt, which cracks the grape skin so that it will dry quicker. Javea once brought economic growth to Spain as an international exporter of raisins. Now, in the market however, countless manufactured goods including raisins flow from Alicante.

Dining Room Furniture What’s Your Style

Jul 7th, 2009 Posted in family | no comment »

There’s believably no other place in the home that has witnessed the warmest moments among family members than the dining room. This is where everyone gathers each morning before setting out to school or work. It’s also where they meet again in the evening and share stories and conversations about how the day went. Unquestionably, this is a room not to be taken for granted. If you only want the best memories for your family and friends, make your dining room the best that it can be.

Decorating any part of the home is a form of self-expression. Consequently, before any change is made, it is important for the homemaker to shape her personal style. When it comes to the dining room, there could be many ways to give it a whole new look and feel depending on the style of the one who’s producing the design.

Contemporary dining furniture would have clean lines and simple yet entertaining shapes. It would have a dark hue, usually cappuccino. An accent in a modern dining table could be anything that looks unique such as a geometrically inspired glass bowl or vase. Generally, modern furniture is a showcase of things sleek and simple and this is what a modern dining set will look like.

A casual dining table is also simple and may be covered by a cotton cloth with colorful prints. The chairs would come wicker style, while oak and pine are types of woods that are at home in casual interiors. A bouquet of flowers in a plain glass vase placed on the table could serve as an accent. A bowlful of differently colored fruits also make a good centerpiece in a casual dining room setting.

If traditional is how you project your dining room to be, a formal dining table is a must. Usually, this style works great with elegant looking hardwoods like cherry or mahogany. Chairs will have to match naturally. When you talk about traditional dining furniture, it’s impossible not to be taken back to the world of old European design. Antiques will be all around the place and a highly decorative chandelier will bring that dining table to a classic sparkle. One thing about traditional furniture is consistency. From your walls to your linens, everything should be a match.

For those who work better by breaking rules and creating their own, eclectic is the term for the resulting design. This allows for experimenting and crossing different interior design genres. But even in an eclectically styled home, the rule of visual weights remains. They have to be in balance. It doesn’t mean that if there’s one jar on one side, there should be another on the other side. It simply requires weights on both sides to be evened out whatever decors there are.

Women Enjoy Cuban Cigars Too

Jul 7th, 2009 Posted in entertainment | no comment »

Cuban cigars is not a pleasure just limited to men. Women have come a long way to run right next to the boys and even when it comes to Cuban cigars, some of the most famous Cuban cigar smokers are women. Believe it or not, it was the female monarchs back in the day that helped Cuban cigars get the prestige that they truly deserve. Women and Cuban cigars have an untold history and today hopefully you and I can

It use to be that women were considered lesser than ‘man’ and believe it or not, their are still tons of people and large societies that still think in such a horrible manner. However, never underestimate the power of a woman, she’s has fought for centuries for her ‘god given’ rights and rightfully so. It is my pleasure to announce that Cuban cigars is something that both parties can share, men and women.

Women unfortunately had to fight for lots of things since the beginning of time. More so than men had to as in almost all societies, women were always considered as second class citizens. So when Cuban cigar got super popular back in the 1900s, women who were found smoking were considered witches. I don’t know what was wrong with people back than but apparently women smoking was a very bad thing.

So what finally got society to except women as Cuban cigar smokers? Believe it or not, it was Hollywood. Yes when the rich and famous and the talented started smoking Cuban cigars in the 1990s, everybody wanted to get in on it. Even women were like shocked to see other beautiful women smoke Cuban cigars. It was just a wonderful thing that was good for everybody including the genre of Cuban cigars. When the ladies in Hollywood started doing it, all the ladies wanted to get in on the craze.

Soon women started working for Cuban cigar companies and especially the companies that started marketing Cuban cigars. Women were now just as much part of Cuban cigar marketing as they were for Beer and other very famous and desired products. Women and Smoking was now cool and everyone wanted to get their hands on a Cuban cigar.
