How To Install A Car Stereo

Apr 27th, 2010 Posted in computer | no comment »

Want to save some money? Ever wonder if you could do a car stereo installation yourself? Yes, you can do it yourself! Go ahead, spend that money on your hardware! Don’t spend it on labor. Besides, doing a car stereo installation yourself can be a very rewarding experience, not to mention you can learn a lot from it too. Nothing beats the feeling of seeing your “creation” in action, running smoothly and perfectly.

But be very careful, you really won’t want to damage your expensive hardware. Well, most car audio hardware are no-brainers to install, you’d find that most of the time the parts have specially shaped sockets and slots etc. and would only fit where it’s supposed to be installed. Still, it’s best to proceed methodically.

In a car stereo installation, you have to determine what kind of rig you’re going to put into your vehicle. If you’re a beginner, it’s best you do a car stereo installation if it’s just a simple system. You may want to leave the complicated stuff to the professionals, like installing delicate equipment like LCD panels, motorized parts etc. especially if it requires the creation of custom panels and such.

Head units are one of the easiest to do in a car stereo installation. Fortunately, most units follow the same size standards (DIN). In many cars, once the factory radio is removed the aftermarket radio will fit in the hole. In many other cars, a kit is needed if the factory hole is too big, or not deep enough. In some cases the dash has to be cut. Any car stereo store should have kits required for installation.

There are two types of mounting in a car stereo installation. ISO mounting is when the radio can be screwed to existing factory radio brackets, such as in most Japanese cars. Ring mounting is when an aftermarket radio comes with a metal ring that gets mounted to the factory radio hole or aftermarket kit via bendable tabs. In many cars, dash and trim rings have to be filed to enlarge the radio hole. Once the ring is installed, the radio slides in and is held by snaps. In most cases, special tools are required to remove the radio.

Speakers are very critical in a car stereo installation. No matter how expensive your speakers are, if they are not properly installed, the sound will not be up to par.

In a simple car stereo installation, you’ll probably be using speakers that fit into a factory location. Just make sure there are no gaps or holes. Sometimes building a wood or fiberglass baffle helps reduce holes and gives you much better sound. But always be careful when using power tools around speakers. Car stereo installation warranties usually don’t cover holes in speakers.

For unconventional speaker locations, sometimes metal has to be cut. You might want to leave this to the professionals, tools like plasma cutters and pneumatics drills are required. But if you’re going to insist, a pair of metal snips (left and right cut) will do.

A car stereo installation has to put up with vibrations and other noise sources in its environment. Even though it is impossible to eliminate these completely, there are products that will greatly decrease the noise and rattling, particularly on non-luxury cars. Liners, sprays and adhesive strips and even carpeting applied onto the panels can make a world of difference.

A Little Info About Wall Mounted Hair Dryers

Jan 16th, 2010 Posted in style | no comment »

There are people who wash their hair every day and this is fine, particularly since there are new shampoos on the market which do not damage the hair, even with frequent washing. But this requires that the hair be dried thoroughly and although in the summertime it is sufficient to let the hair air dry, the colder days of winter do not offer this choice. For this reason drying your hair by using a hairdryer is the best choice, not only to dry your hair quickly, but also to avoid catching a bad cold.

Wall mounted hair dryers have a base and a U-shaped bracket for holding the dryer unit. These two parts are joined together by an adjustable extension.

A lot of blow dryers that exist today are wonderful appliances, and the majority of them offer you a way to get a little extra bathroom space by hanging them on the wall. A few of the more recent styles have nightlights as well.

Wall mounted hair dryers are perfect for people who wash their hair on a daily basis. They also work well for those people who only want to wash their hair a few times each week. A wide variety of styles are available for purchase, including traditional and contemporary designs to suit any taste.

As an illustration, the Sunbeam blow dryer has been a very popular model for many years, and has become a standard to which others are compared. A lot of high-end hotels and vacation spots in a number of nations all over the world have installed this model.

Many hair dryers come with a variety of extra features, such as a lint filter that can be taken out to clean, increased airflow, low noise output, a magnetic handset, and excellent hair styling capabilities. A few include a way for you to choose how many watts you want to use, which can lower your electricity bills, if you select a lower setting.

The wall installation of a hairdryer is very simple and does not take long to do at all. But it is always a good idea to review the installation instructions which come with the manual so that you can avoid any accidents should something have been set up in error. Finally, make certain that you keep the hairdryer away from small children and this not only applies too wall mounted hairdryers but to all other models of hairdryers, too.

A Look Into Hairdryers

Jan 5th, 2010 Posted in style | no comment »

Everyone has a basic routine everyday: we get done washing our hair and we reach for our hairdryer, turn it on, and immediately we have hot air that dries our hair quickly and helps us get ready for the day. There are several excellent reasons for everyone to use a hairdryer to dry their hair, and the main one in the winter is not going outside with wet hair to keep from catching a cold or the chills. Even though it’s something we use every day, most folks don’t consider how hairdryers work in being able to expel hot air that doesn’t end up burning our heads or our hair.

Blow dryers are basically easy to understand. Two major components, air and heat, are important to allowing the appliance to work properly. Essentially, a blow dryer works by forcing heat and air together inside the dryer. The heated air is then funneled through the appliance in a single direction and out the end.

There is a heating element inside the hairdryer which produces heat very quickly but it is of no usefulness if the air remains in the unit, making it very hot to the touch and hampering its performance.

So, a fan is built in to force the hot are out the end of the appliance. A basic electrical motor turns the fan in order to release the hot air that will then allow you to dry your hair. Additionally, the majority of blow dryers give you the option of turning off the heat so you can use cool air if you need to.

In addition, many hairdryers are capable of regulating the heat so that you can decide how hot the air needs to be. The temperature of the heating element determines how hot the air which is pushed out of the hairdryer will be.

Generally, the heat is controlled by a heating coil which will heat up when the dryer is connected to the power source. This coil (nichrome wire) is composed of two alloy metals, nickel and chromium, which you will find in many household appliances, including toasters and kettles.

Nickel and chromium conduct heat very well, but do not generally conduct electricity well. So, the combination of these two metals can withstand very high temperatures, which in turn will generate the blow dryer’s hot air.

Tips For Using A Hair Straightener

Jan 2nd, 2010 Posted in style | no comment »

As people are looking to have sleek straight hair, hair straighteners are becoming more and more popular. Here are a few tips of what you should do and not do with a straightener.

Dry your hair before putting in the straighteners.

Wash your hair using all the normal shampoos and conditioners, afterward apply the serum via your hands. Spread it along the length of your hair smoothing it in. Most products sold by salons will work much better than the cheaper normal store bought brands.

A paddle brush is a good idea to help keep your hair straight while you dry it, and the straighter will need to be activated as well as you continue to brush. To see the best outcome, never stop while you take the straighteners through your hair, and remain consistent in your rhythm.

Don’t get into a hurry, especially if you are a beginner.

It will take some time to get the style that you want, and taking your time to get the hang of it will help you to get it right. If you pace yourself and take the time to get it right the first few times you use the straightener, it will make it easier and quicker in the long run to get the results you want.

After all is said and done, make sure that the end result is exactly what you want.

It is vital that the style you are going for is consistent across all of your hair when you use straighteners. Check the back of your head by using a front mirror and a hand mirror to look at how your hair lays behind you. If some areas are not perfectly straight, it means you need to go over them again.

If could take more than one try for larger patches that tend to be more difficult to reach to get right. Make sure you end the style by blending together the ends of you hair. Make it appear to be more together by using clipless straighteners to prevent the hair from separating.

Don’t Allow yourself to get burned.

You may have some trouble with the straighteners if you accidentally burn your fingers. By talking to a specialist at a salon you can learn the tricks to doing it in a safer manner. When you use a straightener, it makes the hair so hot that it is capable of burning you, so make sure you let it cool after you make a sweep.

Outdoor Security Cameras In Low Lights

Oct 2nd, 2009 Posted in insurance | no comment »

The most important factor to capturing useful surveillance video is making sure the lighting levels are adequate for your outdoor security camera. Depending on the type and model of the camera there is a wide range when it comes to minimum lighting requirements. There are some basic strategies we can use to make sure poor lighting won’t hinder the performance of the security camera.

While it is not always an option, installing additional lighting to the area is one way we can make sure the outdoor security camera captures usable video footage. A simple system like a light that is controlled by a person is not always viable when there may not be a person to do the job. There are also motion activated lights as well as motion activated cameras that begins recording only when there is some movement detected. The important part is that the light is sufficient in illuminating the security camera’s entire field of view.

It is not always as simple as adding an additional light source to illuminate the area in every case. Some conditions require the lighting to stay low, or it is not economically feasible to create a line just for a new bulb. Whatever the case is, if the lighting is simply low and nowhere near complete darkness, then using a black and white camera might be enough to solve the problem since these cameras require much lower light to produce an image.

In especially low light conditions near complete darkness, night vision cameras are also available. Cameras with night vision use infrared to detect light that travel at waves beyond what we can see. A security camera’s minimum light requirement is measured by the LUX rating. The higher the rating the better lit the area must be for the camera to be useful. A LUX rating of 0 means the camera is designed for conditions with no light at all.

The sole purpose of an outdoor security camera is to record activity in an area for increased security and darkness is more reason to increase the level of security. Psychologically people feel more secure committing crimes under the cover darkness and that is why we have a need to protect our things, our families, and ourselves with security surveillance cameras.

Some basic ways to protect your camera is by installing it with as many threats in mind as possible. Housing is recommended especially for areas that are high risk of physical abuse by either malicious attacks or weather extremities. How the camera is installed and mounted and how the cables are managed are all things that will minimize the chances of the surveillance equipment from being damaged and rendered useless.
