Truth be told, it seem that everybody responds to food items differently. Some things that stand out in my mind are nuts and assorted nut products. Then there are people who could consume just about anything.
I know that one of my most “triggering” food items is good old caffeine. My body does a good job of telling me when I have consumed too much caffeine. I get some brutal “caffeine headaches”, just to name one side effect.
But you know what? I truly think I would be lost without that morning caffeine hit. I know I get some brutal symptoms, but I still need that cup of java. Is this caffeine withdrawal many ask? I don’t know for sure, but I know my symptoms increase without it.
But in reality, I truly pay the price for drinking this coffee and even teas in the morning. I know that there are researchers out there who are deeming “caffeine addiction” as a unique disorder that does exist. This doesn’t make me feel any better about my caffeine consumption.
I really believe that I am not the same old person unless I start the day with my cup of coffee or even tea for that matter. Those that are on the outside looking in state that I am not the same person without that morning cup, so maybe there’s some reality behind it. Unfortunately, I still don’t think I can stop.
I know a friend of mine has mentioned that she gets an unbearable form of headaches during the day, and they just hang in there, only relieved by more and more caffeine. Others have mentioned some anxiety and restlessness. Maybe this ‘caffeine withdrawal” disorder holds some truth to it.
What is some of the best advice right now? Well probably to reduce your caffeine intake if it is excessive. If you are having some real bad side effects, I would visit a doctor for a check up. If caffeine is a necessary part of your day, try some alternatives. Caffeine withdrawal symptoms can wreak havoc on your body, especially if you consume as much as I do.
