Get Your Hands On A New And Improved Dash

Jul 17th, 2009 Posted in technology | no comment »

T-Mobile Dash was a very popular phone when it was released. It quickly became a favorite among users. With its nice design and great list of features it was a very versatile phone. But it was far from perfect. T-Mobile hoped to satisfy its customers with fixing some of the problems with the new T-Mobile Dash 3G.

The T-Mobile Dash 3G is a simply a great looking phone. It has a top notch design. One of its most notable design upgrades is the soft finish which is found on the back of the device. The soft back makes the phone look and feel more sophisticated. The size of the phone is very reasonable and the Dash 3G will fit easily into anyones pocket and will not feel cumbersome. Two major flaws are the screens size and lackluster display. The screen is rather small and viewing websites, long messages, and even photos might require you to scroll down just to view it in its entirety. The Dash 3G has a resolution of only 320×240. Other smartphones such as Curve 8900 features a 480×320 resolution. The lower resolution is apparent when comparing the look of photos and texts to other phones. You can sometimes see the noticeable pixels. Thankfully the phone features a very easy to use trackball navigator. The trackball navigator works better than the out of date d-pad found on the Sprint Snap smartphone. Despite its compact design the Dash features a very nice full QWERTY keyboard. The keys are spaced far apart, are raised, and have a slight curve to them. The lettering and numbering of the keys is also a great addition. They are easy to read and decipher.

The phone obviously offers 3G service. This is a great addition because there hasnt been a suitable 3G phone available from Sprint. Websites, videos, songs, etc will load with great speed. This phone is a great upgrade from either the Sidekick LX 2009 or the G1. The Dash 3G also allows users to link up their email and instant messaging accounts, allowing them to instant receive email and message alerts. Another addition to the Dash is the expansive GPS services. Using TeleNav Navigation you are able to receive real time voice guided directions to your destination.

The phone features a very impressive 2 megapixel camera. It is an obvious improvement over the 1.3-megapixel camera found on the previous Dash. There are many image capturing options and presets which help you take the best looking photo possible. The phone can also record video. The video quality is decent but as expected too much movement will result in grainy video.

The T-Mobile Dash 3G is a very good phone. It enhances and improves on everything the Dash did. Its a great phone for anyone who is looking for a versatile phone packed with amazing features. But be wary of the small screen.

LG Neon: A Great Little Camera Phone

Jul 9th, 2009 Posted in computer | no comment »

While top of the line smartphones may be dominating the market there is still a place for lesser equipped cell phones. Realistically everybody wont need or ever use every feature found on the iPhone or even a BlackBerry. These people need a functional cell phone at an affordable price. One such phone is the LG Neon. It is a simple phone with additional functions that is sure to please the regular consumer intimidated by the price and features of the iPhone.

Firstly the LG Neon is a good looking phone. It has a very smooth and modern design. The phone has rounded edges and no hard lines, which also make the phone very comfortable to hold in ones hand. The Neon is also very light. With its light weight and sleek design the phone fits neatly in ones pocket and doesnt feel incredibly bulky or heavy. Most noticeably the phone features a touch screen. Oddly enough though its only usage is only for dialing numbers. One would expect the touch screen to perform more tasks but anyone looking for such features will be disappointed. The full QWERTY keyboard is found underneath the slide compartment. The keyboard is not cramped at all and is very comfortable to use. One will be able to easily thumb messages. The LG Neon is also able to sync up with many messaging and email services such as AIM, AOL, Yahoo Messenger, and even Windows Live Messenger.

The camera found on the LG Neon actually takes decent photos. There are numerous settings and image option controls such as three quality settings, five white balance presets, five color effects, 4x zoom, self-timer, and three shutter tones including a silent option. There is no flash so make sure any picture you would like to take is in a well lit area. Otherwise the pictures will appear grey and foggy. Other than that the actual picture quality is pretty decent. The camera can also record video in unfortunately only two resolutions. Recording onto a Micro SD card will allow users to record longer videos.

The phone lacks any 3G or Wi-Fi support meaning downloading songs and content will take quite a while. It was so slow it took 12 minutes to download a 1MB song. The web browsing also suffers it can be very slow as well; websites take quite a while to load.

The call quality presented by the LG Neon is above average. The microphone on the Neon does an amazing job at isolating ones voice and not picking up any background noise, even in loud noise traffic areas. The speakerphone does not work as well though. Callers and even music played over it will sound very low.

The LG Neon is a decent phone for anyone who cant afford other top of the line phones. The phone offers users a great messaging system as well as a decent camera and basic web browsing. For many people this may be all they need.
