Do You Have Extra Sensory Perception?

Oct 21st, 2010 Posted in spirituality | no comment »

Extra sensory perception is traditionally categorized in the realm of the super natural. What is so odd about that is that we also embrace the prospect of ESP in lesser levels. This is because serious ESP levels frighten people. The general public doesn’t want to believe that you can take information and understand it without their willful offering of that information.

Most people have a certain degree of perception that is heightened. Many of us as children had a much higher sense of perception than we do as adults. Over time the mind becomes a little jammed up with bills, responsibilities, and other grown up things that clog our mind’s ability to perceive the way we did when we were children.

Children have historically been considered to be the most likely to be in touch with their extra sensory perception because they tend to trust what they feel. Children have historically been the subject of mental testing in order to determine whether true ESP as we have come to know it really exists.

ESP is not mind reading. It’s not a game and it’s not a method of cheating at a card game. It is a sense that can tell you whether someone is telling you the truth and it is a sense that can help you understand why someone is acting the way that they are. It is the ability to be ultra empathetic with another living being and it is a way of being able to pay attention to your senses when it comes to every day life situations.

The idea of extra sensory perception can be frightening to those that do not understand what it really is. The strong and intense rejection of ESP among the general population is generally considered by scientists who study the various aspects of ESP to be fear based. It can be frightening to think that someone might be able to “tap into your mind” but in reality we all do it on a smaller scale every day.

It is not easy to live with being able to glean the information that you do from the unintentional communications that others share with you. Sometimes it means that you have to make difficult choices without being able to really talk about why you’re making that choice. Sometimes it means feeling as though you are different and that many people in your life don’t really believe that you are a little different.

One can potentially develop their extra sensory perception. It starts by getting in tune with your own senses. The more you start to recognize your own ability to gather information about yourself the more you will be able to gather information about other people. It’s not an exact science, but it is a significant and rather powerful gift that can be tuned into to some degree.

Extra sensory perception doesn’t have to be scary or even freakish. It is part of our human make up and we are all born much more in tune with our ability to perceive the information we receive. Whether or not we choose to listen is up to us more than we know. Clearing out our minds and being open to the information is the first step.

To a devout Christian, a funeral is a celebration of the soul’s journey towards eternal life from thereon. Christian funerals are uplifting, because of their religion’s belief that the soul has finally found an eternal abode in the House of God.

Death is welcomed by Christians openly, with the belief that it is an exit from the world of pain and a path into the world of everlasting happiness. It provides relief to the grieving family and friends arising from the death of the person. The Christian funeral rites are performed by devout Christians keeping these beliefs in mind.

Christian funeral ceremony is usually officiated by the pastor. They are generally held at the church which the dead person used to visit when he or she was alive. Generally no casket is used in the service, but there are exceptions to this, especially when the service takes place in a funeral home. Usually, Christian funeral ceremony does not have the custom of displaying the body of the dead person.

The funeral ceremony is more of a memorial, in which the programmes start with chanting of hymns, a soloist, and religious readings from the Holy Scriptures. Then the priest gives a message and the attendees follow with a mass prayer.

Next comes the time of reflection and sharing sorrow by friends and family members, when the people gathered voice their sentiments about the deceased and tell how he or she has influenced them and has left a lasting impression. People nowadays do a slide show of photos or play a pre-recorded video of the dead person taken when he was alive.

The final phase in the ceremony is that of a short reception that is held in the church itself and some food is served. People do not choose a graveside service generally, but some families that make an exception to this.

The Many Rituals In Christian Funerals

Oct 19th, 2010 Posted in spirituality | no comment »

A funeral is either a State or a family service, held to honor. Essentially, it is a series of related customs or rituals that are unique to one’s culture or religion.

Majority of Christian funerals have rituals that can be categorized into 3 types of events – the visitation, funeral, and finally, the burial. The first 2 parts, which are the most important ones as far as ritualistic aspects are concerned, are explained below.

The first and foremost part is visitation wherein the body is put in a casket for friends and relatives to see and bid their final adieu to the departed. The body is dressed up in the finest attire and any jewellery that belonged to the person who has died. Some cultures require embalming the body for the visitation, while others don’t.

During the visitation, family members may also display pictures taken of the departed while he was alive, or some valuable items that were very close to the dead person. Some families also run a video or slide show of the deceased.

The visitation is followed by the next service, the memorial service, also known as funeral, and it is conducted in a church. The coffin with the dead body in it is carried in a vehicle to the church, surrounded by a funeral cortege of lamenters. The casket with its floral arrangement is then placed in the church.

The service normally entails reading of parts from the Bible or the Holy Scriptures and praying for the deceased. Devotional songs are also sung in chorus by the attendees. The priest presiding over the ceremony delivers a comforting speech, followed by tributes or eulogies given by family and friends of the departed, who speak of the latter’s merits and accomplishments. Sometimes, the people gathered are permitted to see the body for one last time before the burial. The service is sometimes also followed by ringing church bells.

Once the first two parts of the ceremony are complete, the body is then taken into a cortege for burial that comprises the last phase of the rituals.
