How does government welfare not breed irresponsibility, crime, and government slavery?

Welfare is intended to be used by people while they try to get back on their feet so they and their families don’t starve, freeze and do without basic necessities. It works for a lot of families.
Any abuses should be reported, investigated and charged.

Maybe if walmart didnt pay its people wages that put them just above the poverty level they wouldn’t need to be on welfare. Why does walmart have so much information for their workers to be on welfare?

Irresponsibility – in some cases, sure. Of course. people are going to take advantage of any situation, no matter what.

The black community used to have lower divorce rates and lower out of wedlock children rates than whites. And then the “Great Society” (welfare) was implemented by liberal democrats in the 60s. Now blacks have the worst rates of divorce and out of wedlock children of all demographics.
Democrats destroyed the black community and are trying to do it to the rest of us as well.
Jack is absolutely correct. Sure some people are on welfare for a very limited time when a bad situation hits, but generous government programs give more money for far less effort than unambitious people can get through the jobs they are qualified for (minimum wage). So it makes sense for them to not plan childbirth wisely (since each child comes with additional benefits), not work for a living and just generally behave irresponsibly.

I have been covered by unemployment for my whole life, but have only collected it for a few weeks of that time. Many people have private disability insurance, but only a small percentage of them ever use it and an even smaller percentage ever tries to fake a disability.
