Mountain Bike Innovation the Specialized Way

There is no point in calling it mountain biking if there are no mountain elements to pass through. If it is just plain flat road then its just biking. Mountain biking speaks of obstacle, struggle, endurance and of satisfaction, challenge, and fulfillment.

The Bicycle for off-road rides must have strong and durable frames, flexible tires and light weight. This helps withstand the long rides and the unpaved environment ahead. In order to withstand the hindrance of environmental factors, modern bicycle designs have been develop with the right bicycle geometry specifically the head angle as the important part.

Breaking control has also been improved since the V-breaks were replaced by Disk breaks. Suspension forks were added to improve the brake and suspension system of the bike to make riding on rough terrains with less stress.

Through the years, mountain biking has developed other subtypes that has increased the demand and innovation of mountain bikes to meet the needs of the bikers. Mountain biking now has downhill mountain biking, endurance biking, free ride and cross country biking just to name a few.

Mike Sinyard, a young student taking aviation major has great passion for bicycles. He later decided to quit aviation course after realizing his terrible flying skills and transferred to business school. In 1974, 2 years after he graduated, he built his own small company and named it the Specialized Bicycle Components importing Italian parts for bicycle.

Sinyard’s innovation paved way for the first mountain bike up and running. Stuntjumper was designed to stand firm against off road, ridged mountain trails. The first massively produced mountain bikes in history, Stuntjumper rests embalmed in Smithsonian Institution.

Familiar faces in biking tracks are Specialized lists of innovative and durable bikes such as Stuntjumper, Demo, Hardrock, BigHit, Works, FSR, and Epic.

The Specialized mountain bike founder’s mission still hold true today. Indeed, Specialized mountain bikes have been making great history giving everyone a taste of heavenly biking bliss.

This year, Specialized has already created their newest line of mountain bikes made ready for next year 2010. Specialized focused their innovation for 2010 Specialized mountain bike on full suspension forks with fox-built brain suspension technology for their Stumpjumper and Enduro SL. They also created refined lines of woman’s bike with 18 designs to suit the needs of a female rider.
