Panini Press

A chicken in every pot and a panini maker in every kitchen. Actually Herbert Hoover ended that famous quote with a car in every garage but I think it should be updated to include the panini maker part. You can really make some fantastic meals with a panini maker.

Whether you call if a panini press or a panini grill or a panini maker, it’s still an appliance that you should start using. The act of heating up food and pressing it together between thick slices of hearty bread make for some great sandwiches. You’ll be amazed at how even the most different ingredients blend together to create new and interesting flavors.

I have no problem eating a panini sandwich everyday. But if I only used my panini grill for making sandwiches, I probably wouldn’t be getting my money’s worth. You can also use a panini maker as an indoor grill. If the panini maker has flat grilling plates, then go ahead and make a nich batch of pancakes for you family on a Sunday morning. You can grill vegetables, make burgers or even fry up some shrimp. It’s a must have appliance for someone in an apartment without a BBQ.

If you plan on purchasing a panini maker be sure to make sure it have the following features. Number one, dishwasher safe grilling plates. You don’t want to spend all of your time scrapping cheese or dried grease off of the panini grill. Just pop it in the dishwasher and forget about it. Number two, a large grilling surface. Even if you live alone there’s going to be times when you want to cook for a few people. A tiny panini maker is an embarrassment. Make sure it’s big enough to do the job even when company comes over. And number three, a drip spout on the heating plates. Even the neatest panini sandwiches will ooze a bit when you cook them. With a drip spout and a little cup that ooze will never make it to your countertop.

Just about anything that you decide to make on a panini maker is going to come out pretty good. And with a great panini grill you’ll always have the option to make what you want. Whether it’s a peanut butter and banana sandwich or a filet mignon cheesesteak or some new sandwich invention you’ll be set. And that’s why every kitchen should come with a panini maker.
