Blogs, The Best Way To Keep You Current

For most people with the internet the local news just doesn’t cut it for us anymore. We want personal in depth stories that most local news broadcasts aren’t willing to cover. Or maybe you like knowing what’s going on locally but you hate having to be on a time schedule. You are forced to listen to forty minutes of negative reports that you’ve already seen, just to hear the new story.

Luckily for us there are blogs available online that keep readers updated on the latest information. You are even able to find all of your favorite television stations broadcasters online.

News blogs are great for people who are interested in reading about specific topics because the posts are often categorized by topic. For example recently blogs have erupted on the scene and have taken American political opinion by storm. Blogs and political opinion happen to play a large role in American politics now.

But blogs aren’t limited to just politics. You can even find bloggers commenting on recent news events. When the US was bombing Iraq bloggers of Iraqi citizens were very popular.

Blogs give readers the chance to hear first-hand information from eyewitnesses. Clearly, large corporations control television news and other mainstream media sources. Before a story reaches you, it has been filtered several times. I think I speak for many people when I say that I don’t want my news filtered or censored.

You can take advantage of blog RSS feeds to keep updated on the latest events and posts. Google Reader is also a free handy tool that will allow you to keep updated on all of your favorite blogs all in one spot.

When you create a Google account, your favorite news fees can be shown on your home page when you customize it to your taste. This same service is offered by Yahoo. This is probably the most convenient way to get your favorites blogs. Viewers that provide a variety of options to show and filter what you have selected to view can be downloaded and installed on your computer.

You may also get your feed by email, if that’s how you want it. Most blogs will offer a service that will send you a daily (or as often as the author updates it) update to your email. This way, you stay informed about the subjects that interest you most. Since I check my email repeatedly throughout the day, it is my preferred method for receiving updates.

If your favorite blog doesn’t offer some of this options, you can ask the author to include it. Most of them will be happy to give you this kind of service to their readers. Although most blog software nowadays have this options installed by default, so it is usually just a matter of activating them.

Nowadays I prefer blogs over watching the news, simply because I like to get the facts without having to wait through a commercial.
